It was a celebration of academic achievement as Trinity College School celebrated its fall Scholars’ Evening on Friday, September 22nd in the Dick and Jane LeVan Theatre. This event honours our returning students who earned TCS Scholars’ Awards, Grade 11 subject prizes and/or Advanced Placement honours in the preceding (2022-2023) academic year.

A highlight of the evening was our special guest speaker, Dr. Andrew B. Campbell (aka Dr. ABC), assistant professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Dr. ABC is a recognized leader in the field of anti-racism education and leadership and diversity. In his talk, he spoke of the importance of community and compassion, values very much aligned with our school priorities, and shared about his journey working for equity. He also took questions from the audience briefly at the end of his talk. Dr. ABC then helped present the student awards alongside Head of Trinity College School, Stuart Grainger.

More than 220 students were recognized with TCS Scholars’ Awards, with first-time recipients receiving the scholars’ tie and repeat recipients receiving a gold lapel pin.

The following students received medals as the top scholars in each grade last academic year:

  • Grade 8: Connor Demrovsky (gold); Wyatt Sharpe (silver); Jordyn Keystone (bronze)
  • Grade 9: Caden Keystone (gold); Hannah Obomighie, Claire Thiebaud & Izzy Welch (tied for silver); Maryellen Philips (bronze)
  • Grade 10: Arjun Sharma (gold); Atticus Hodges (silver); Ally Jiang (bronze)
  • Grade 11: Eric Jin (gold); Aoo Audsabumrungrat (silver); Jerry Chen (bronze)

Note: Grade 12 graduates received their academic awards on Speech Day.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of subject prizes for students attaining the top mark in each Grade 11 course during the 2022-2023 school year. And returning students who achieved recognition in the AP program last year were also formally celebrated.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients, and a special thank you to Dr. ABC for his illuminating presentation.
